Signing up to agency

There are thousands of modelling agencies all over the country. These agencies are divided into 3 tiers of agencies in which the top tier or the most elite agencies belongs to AMA (Association of Modelling Agents).

Elite tiers agencies usually belong to the AMA (Association of Modelling agents). Compared to other agencies, these agencies are the most competitive agencies of all. The agencies have developed their own requirement and standard for those in it making it one of the most sought after agencies. The AMA has scouts all over the country looking for new face; but the likelihood to be scouted is low. One requirement of joining these agencies usually are the exclusivity demanded from the models.

The second tier of agencies includes hundreds of legit agencies. As an aspiring young model, you would send in your portfolio and come in person for interview and should the agency be interested with the model, then they will sign the model. The negative side of this is that as models send their photos to agencies, there are the chances that they will unknowingly send their photos to cowboy agencies and unknowingly put their self in vulnerable position.

The last tier of agencies is made up by cowboy agencies. These agencies are mostly scam and accept new models easily and promise to promote them. The modus operandi of such agencies usually include asking an upfront fees to join the agency and request for an expensive portfolio supplied by the agencies before they promote the model. Therefore before you found yourself in this situation, do a proper check before agreeing to anything.
